Music Moves to the Rhythm of the Dance Around the World

The MusicaNova Orchestra goes around the world, from Europe, with Beethoven’s energetic and engaging rhythms, to America and Morton Gould’s unique work featuring a tap dancer as orchestra soloist, to Australia with Peggy Glanville-Hicks’s exotic synthesis of dances from the Pacific Rim, and MusicaNova Composition Fellow Aiyana Braun’s inspiration from water dancing in a creek.

Practical Water (2019) Arizona Premiere

Aiyana Braun (b. 1997) is a composer, conductor, and pianist whose work confronts pressing political and social matters while often drawing upon elements of nature. She believes that in times of adversity, it is important to emulate aspects of the environment around us to ground ourselves as well as be reminded of the inherent beauty of our surroundings which may otherwise go unseen, unheard, and unappreciated.
