- Sibelius: Symphony No. 4
- Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnol
Rising star Katrina Jia, a 14-year old freshman at Chandler’s Hamilton High School and winner of multiple state and national piano competition prizes, makes her MusicaNova Orchestra début with Robert Schumann’s Konzertstück No. 92 for Piano and Orchestra.
Sixteen year old MusicaNova Composition Fellow Tengku Irfan has dazzled the world as a composing and piano prodigy. Hailing from Malaysia, he is a student in composition and piano in the pre-college division at the Juilliard School in New York with a dual major in piano and composition – when not performing all over the world. He’ll make his conducting début with his piece Nocturne.
Also on the program are the extraordinary Symphony No. 4 of Sibelius, a dark work that the composer considered his finest achievement and the contrasting brilliance of the Capriccio Espagnol of Rimsky-Korsakov, a brilliant showcase for the whole orchestra.
