The Pinnacle Bassoon Quartet is all about having fun while performing at a high artistic level, entertaining an audience, and spreading the word about bassoons. Since its founding in 2010 the Valley-based quartet has performed at a variety of venues over the last few years including the first MusicaNova Collaborative Concert at Scottsdale Presbyterian Church in May 2014.

Chip King founded the quartet after coming to Arizona from Michigan where he had a long career as an orchestra bassoonist. Inspired by his desire to have a casual and fun outlet to continue playing, he began networking in the Phoenix musical community and discovered many fine bassoonists in the Valley of the Sun. Soon the Pinnacle Bassoon Quartet was on born.

Current members joining Chip include MusicaNova Orchestra bassoonists John Friedeman and Peter Blandino, and John Briggs on the contrabassoon. Much of the group’s repertoire is based on Chip’s personal library of charts and his own arrangements for bassoon quartets.
