Jessica Zhang is a 12-year-old seventh grader at BASIS-Ahwatukee School. She has been studying piano with Mrs. Hong Zhu since age 5. Jessica was the 1st place winner of the 2015 East Valley Music Teachers Association (EVMTA) piano competition, 2nd place winner of the 2015 Arizona Young Artist piano competition, and 3rd place winner of the 2015 Arizona MusicFest piano completion. She has won numerous prizes in various piano competitions in the state of Arizona in the past few years. She enjoys reading, swimming, painting, and solving mathcount problems during her spare time.

Angelina Zhang, Jessica’s sister, is a 9-year-old fourth grader at BASIS-Ahwatukee School. When she was little, she was inspired by hearing her older sister playing piano every day. Encouraged by Mrs. Hong Zhu, Angelina started studying piano at age four-and-a-half. In April she was the winner of the 2015 Desert Valley Music Teacher Association (DVMTA) piano competition (level 11),  and previously took 2nd place in the 2015 Arizona Young Artist piano competition.  Her other piano prizes include 1st place in the 2012 EVMTA piano competition, winner of the 2013 DVMTA piano competition (level 7), 3rd place in the 2013 Arizona Young Artist piano competition, and 3rd place in the 2014 EVMTA piano competition. During her spare time, she loves reading, swimming, dancing, painting, and making hand crafts.
